This is a great series! I am always wanting to read the next one as soon as I finish a book. This is a good read on its own but you will get much more out of it if you read the whole series. And they are all great books. The author really brings you into the world of the characters. The cyborgs have been horribly abused by the government. Considering them only machines. So, many of the cyborgs have escaped and they now know there are human women that can be a perfect mate for them. The cyborgs are determined to stop the government from all the atrocities they do and help to free other cyborgs. And look for their mates in the process. All the books are worth reading.
Ace and Thrasher are just TOO CUTE! I just knew their story would be a GOOD one. Their female and commander brings order, passion and direction to their otherwise confused relationship. When Ace and Thrasher find Carys they are just too sweet, protective and concerned about her NOT being damaged. CYNTHIA SAX does a EXCELLENT job of bringing these stories and characters together. My only complaint about this book was ...I NEEDED another 100 pages!!
Carys, Ace, and Thrasher's story...Carys, Commander of a rebel battle station and Cyborgs, Ace and Thrasher are the heroes of this book. Carys can't believe that two sexy, brave and strong warriors could want her. After all, she's well past child-bearing age. As Cyborgs Ace and Thrasher are considered defective. They both want Carys as their female and though they try to hide it, they both want each other. There's a battle brewing and it's not just between the Commander and the Cyborgs.
I love this book and this series! There's plenty of action in and out of the sleeping quarters. The characters are wonderful. I highly recommend this book and series. I can't wait to read more about Cynthia Sax's Cyborgs. Enjoy!
I have the complete set of the Cyborg Sizzle series.
I use the lure of these stories as a reward for exercising 6 days a week. When one is available, I am diligent about making sure I get my minimum amount of daily exercise. In other words, I really enjoy these stories. The heroes are physically strong but emotionally starved half-organic/half-machine cyborgs who have escaped the tyranny of slavery. The heroines are take-no-cr*p strong in their specialties (i.e. engineering, genetics, piloting) and have no real fear of these emotionless (so they're told) war machines.
Ace and Thrasher are partner cyborgs. From the same vat (so to speak), training together and fighting together. They hide their lifelong affection from everyone - including the Cyborg Council - because they believe it is defective. Ace is tightly controlled, Thrasher more carefree. Carys is their female. She is older (the cyborgs marvel at the silver in her hair and the stretch marks on her skin). She is the commander of a rebel battle station fighting the Humanoid Alliance.
I wish these books were longer, with more emotional pull of falling in love. There is an overabundance of sex... which is ok... but I tend to skim that and get to what I consider the meaty part of the couple falling in emotional love. Simply because they are a physical match doesn't mean that they are an emotional match and thus the 4-star rather than a 5-star review.
Still, I'll keep buying and am practically drooling for the next in the series.
I love strong female leads and Carys fits the bill. She has worked hard to be a commander of her own battle station as a member of the Rebel Assembly fighting against the Humanoid Alliance. I also love that she isn't your typical ravishing young thing but has lived a hard life showing grey hair and stretch marks from having a baby and still is Ace and Thrasher's female. It does not matter to them that she's too old to get pregnant.
Her take command personality and the respect of the people she leads is a turn on and sense of pride for both of them. Ace and Thrasher's relationship with each other is also a new thing as they are not only attracted to Carys, but also each other. They are unseparable since they were created, but had to hide their attraction to each other from not only the Humanoid Alliance, but also their fellow Cyborgs as they would been deemed defective and destroyed. In addition to this three way romance which brings a fresh angle to the explicit sex scenes, there is the added plot of a final show down with the Humanoid Alliance and freeing all the Cyborgs still under servitude. This book can be read alone, but reading the others in order fills in the backround of this world as there are mentions to previous story plots. It sounds like there might be another Cyborg book in the wings and I would be interested in reading about Ghost and Carys' first officer.
